ACTO

 

About the Organization

OTCAThe Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) is a regional cooperation mechanism signed by Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Surinam and Venezuela. It was created to develop synergies and harmonize regional policies to foster conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity in the Amazon Region.

The lines of action of ACTO are detailed in the 2004 - 2012 Strategic Plan, which establishes within its component of Biological Diversity, Biotechnology and Biotrade, the development of mechanisms to drive investments and trade in biodiversity products and services with a view to achieving the objectives of the Convention on Biological Diversity and advancing the sustainable development of the Amazon.
