By signing the ACT, the eight State Members undertook the commitment to promote joint actions and efforts towards harmonically developing their respective Amazonian territories, through environmental preservation and rational utilization of the region’s natural resources, aiming at equitable and mutually beneficial results.

Since its establishment in the city of Brasilia, Brazil, ACTO Permanent Secretariat has signed agreements and implemented projects to induce Amazonian sustainable development. Therefore, the Organization welcomes technical and financial support from multilateral organizations and cooperating countries.

Being the major initiative on regional integration of the Amazon, ACTO is becoming an important tool towards unity in South America.
