The First Biannual ACTO Sustainable Tourism Award

 

The ACTO Responsible Tourism Award

Premio de TurismoAs a fundamental part of the Destination Amazonia Year 2009 Initiative, ACTO will grant the Responsible Tourism Award  to lodging establishments considered examples of "good practices" that contribute to the sustainable development of tourism and add value to the natural and cultural environments of the member countries of ACTO. As such, the Award will represent a tool to distinguish those tourism services presenting the best comparative performance.

The Ministries or Vice Ministries of Tourism of each Member Country of ACTO will be invited to nominate no more than three (03) establishments considered to be the most compatible with the sustainability criteria presented in the official award regulations.

The following establishments may participate:    

  • Hotels
  • Resorts
  • Ecolodges
  • Inns
  • Hostels
  • Camping

Lodging establishments and initiatives must be located within the Amazonian territory of the Member Countries of ACTO: Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru and Suriname.

Once the three candidates to the Award have been internally identified, those in charge of the nominations in each country leads must fill in and submit the registration forms and necessary documents identified in the official regulations to the Permanent Secretariat of ACTO by mail to the address indicated in the form no later than 30 April 2009.
